Rupankar is not just a singer, but a good actor as well. He runs his own theatre group too. Today, Rupankar started shooting for Raajhorshee De’s film Abaar Kanchenjungha, where he plays a pivotal role. So, which is close to his heart- music or acting? “Music occupies 80 per cent of my heart and 20 per cent is acting and my fondness for penning stories and songs. I am planning to write a novel soon. This is my fourth film, but I am choosy about selecting films. I might sing any song that comes my way but when it comes to acting, I am extremely selective. I will only act in films that will help enrich my acting skills,” said Rupankar, who’s first shot today was with Priyanka Rati Pal.
Raajhorshee on his part is happy with the way Rupankar acts and so he has cast him in an important character. “I saw him playing the titular character in Hiralal Sen’s biopic and I must admit he was fantastic. Today too, he delivered a brilliant performance. I have also cast Deboshree Ganguly, who is Subhashree Ganguly’s sister in this film and this will be her debut. I somehow feel that she will perform well,” said the director.
Abaar Kanchenjungha revolves around Tridib Choudhury, who invites his siblings to their ancestral home, Abhilash, in Darjeeling on the eve of Christmas. As the story unfolds, each character has secrets to share, major revelations to make and promises to be restored. “The only thing that binds each member of this family is their belief in a miracle. That is the film all about,” said the director.
