Sauraseni Maitra is upset. The model-turned-actress who shot for an ad commercial with Shoojit Sircar a few days back couldn’t click a selfie with the director. “We shot with the minimum crew at Rajarhat for the ad commercial and the whole day we were shooting in cars, so I hardly got a chance to ask him whether I can click a picture with him! When I came back home I was feeling bad that I couldn’t click a picture with one of my most favourite directors. I couldn’t even tell him that I loved his film, Piku. Avikda (Mukhopadhyay) was the cinematographer with whom I worked in my debut film, Meghnad Badh Rahasya, so we connected after a long time. And I must admit that Shoojit sir talks very less but his instructions were so clear that I never faced any problems and he was super cool with his team. For me, it was a fan-girl moment,” said the actress.
Sauraseni just completed dubbing for Mayakumari. “For me, dubbing is the most difficult part of the shooting. But it also has its positive sides where one can make a shot sound and look better. Voice modulation is important for any actor,” said Sauraseni.
The plot of the film Mayakumari revolves around Mayakumari and Kanan Kumar, who are a hit pair of 1940’s Bengali cinema. In the peak of her career, Mayakumari takes a sabbatical and her fans and followers start speculating about her sudden disappearance. Why did she leave films is what this movie is all about.
