In December last year, Rakul Preet Singh had told us that she was hoping to finish the last schedule of her film with Sivakarthikeyan, Ayalaan, in January. “I joined Ayalaan right after my Maldives vacation. In fact, I was on the set the very next day. We have a small schedule left, which we should mostly finish in January,” she had told us then. And now, as planned, the actress has wrapped up her portions in the sci-fi entertainer, directed by Ravikumar.
“Unfortunately, there was a delay in finishing the film. Because of COVID-19, we couldn’t shoot the whole of 2020. But the film is nearing completion now and it’s looking really good. It’s a passionate team and everyone has put in a lot of hard work. There is also a lot of VFX involved, which we have begun. All I can say is, it’s a fun film and everyone, especially kids, will love it,” says Rakul.
The actress had posted a picture of her celebrating Holi on the set. “It’s part of a romantic song that we shot in this schedule,” is all she is willing to reveal. Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan had shared on social media how happy he was to work with Rakul, and also thanked her for making him speak in English through the shoot. “We had a pact — I’d speak in Tamil with him and he’d speak in English with me on the set,” she says with a laugh.
“Sivakarthikeyan is very sweet as a co-star. He was really kind in letting me know about places in Chennai, helping me get the food I want… He also helped me with my lines. Every time there was a complicated Tamil dialogue, he’d help me out. He keeps joking around on the set and makes the atmosphere very light,” she adds.
Ask Rakul, who has been set-hopping since the beginning of this year, what 2021 holds for her, and she says, “Unanimously, as citizens of the globe, we should be looking at 2021 being a nice, positive year, with COVID-19 out of the scene. Hopefully, vaccines will reach everybody. I want people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic to get back into work mode. I want 2021 to be a happier, healthier year with lots of work opportunities, positivity and with no traumatic experiences that people had experienced in 2020, with respect to their health and jobs. As for me, I’m looking forward to all my film releases that were to happen in 2020, but couldn’t because of the pandemic, and to all the new films and a lot of good work.”
