Marathi industry’s one of the most versatile actors, Subodh Bhave is called the ‘biopic king’ for a reason. From films like ‘Aani…Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar,’ to ‘Sound of Heaven: The Story of Balgandharva’, Subodh is known to play some of the most memorable real life characters on-screen. Now, reports suggest that the actor has started working on another biopic, which will be his fourth, and is all set to hit theatres this year.
The ‘Chandra Aahe Sakshila’ star, recently took to his social media handle to share a photo with Abhijeet Deshpande, the director of ‘Aani…. Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar.’ “अभ्या मित्रा आजपासून सुरू होणाऱ्या आपल्या नव्या अध्यायासाठी तुला आणि आपल्या संपूर्ण संघाला खूप खूप शुभेच्छा,” he captioned the photo. When we dug deeper, we learnt from reliable sources that Subodh’s next film is going to be a biopic. A source close to the production of the film, disclosed to us, “Though we can not reveal much about the movie, it will be another biopic where the actor will be seen essaying the lead character.” His last biopic, ‘Aani…. Dr Kashinath Ghanekar’ had a big star cast from the Marathi industry and this upcoming movie will also have many known faces from the industry. “The upcoming film will have a bigger star cast when compared to his previous biopic. The film is being shot across various locations in Pune,” the source added.
The female characters that Subodh played in the National Award-winning film, ‘ Sound of Heaven: The Story of Balgandharva ,’ were noteworthy, too. In 2015 he played the lead in ‘Lokmanya Ek Yugpurush’ and the film won him Maharashtra State Awards for Best Film. Later, he played the lead in Kashinath Ghanekar who was arguably the first superstar in the Marathi theatre and movie industry.
