Vijay’s ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan’ filmmaker jailed for 3 months in a money laundering case filed by SA Chandrasekhar. Vijay and Shriya Saran starrer ‘Azhagiya Tamizh Magan’, which was directed by Bharathan was released in 2007, and the film was produced by Swargachitra Appachan. Appachan had borrowed Rs 1 crore from Vijay’s father and director SA Chandrasekhar for the release of the film, claiming that he would repay it in 15 days. But he didn’t return the money. Now, SA Chandrasekhar has reportedly filed a complaint alleging that Swargachitra Appachan had fraudulently obtained Rs. 1 crore and had not returned it.
The case was then registered in the court based on the complaint filed by SA Chandrasekhar and has been going on for the last few years. The judge who heard the case has yesterday sentenced filmmaker Swargachitra Appachan to three months in jail in a money laundering case pending the outcome of the case. The verdict has stirred up the debate as there have been several money laundering cases raised in recent times in Kollywood.
