This movie is based on a true story of what happened in Aarushi Talvar’s murder case. Directed by Meghana Gulzar, produced by Vineet Jain and Vishal Bhardwaj under VB Pictures, editing was done by A. Sreekar Prasad, Pankaj Kumar has handled the cinematography.
It stars Irrfan Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Neeraj Kabi, Sohum Shah, Gajraj Rao, Sumit Galati, Neha Sharma, Prakash Belawadi, Shishir Sharma and Tabu.
It was released on 2 October 2015, made on budget ₹15 crores it has grossed est.₹30 crores at the box office, and the film becomes the moderate success at the box office and it receives the positive response from the audience.
The film won two National Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay to Vishal Bhardwaj and Best Audiography Award to Sanjay Kurian, and also won two Filmfare Awards for Best Editing to A.Sreekar Prasad and Best Sound Design to Shajith Koyeri.
The movie is based on the 2008 Noida Murder case where a teenage girl and house servant were found murdered in their house and after investigations by both the police officers and the CBI, the parents were convicted of the murders.
The cast has been well chosen, Irrfan Khan as Ashwin a CBI investigating officer, Tabu as Reema is Ashwin’s wife, Ayesha Praveen playing the role of Shruti(based on Aarushi), Neeraj Kabi as Shruti’s father (in Real Rajesh Talwar) Konkona Sen Sharma has played the role of Shruti’s mother.
Irrfan Khan was very good, this one is of his best performances, Ayesha Praveen did well in her short role, Neeraj Kabi justified his role by playing it quite perfectly, Konkona Sen Sharma and Tabu both plating their role well.
Talwar is a great film with does a good job of portraying all the angles on the Noida Murder case on screen the movie is a slap on the face of the Indian Legal System. The Talwars are in Dasna Jail for almost two years. All we can hope is that this movie contribute in some way to bring them to justice
