Television siblings celebrate their real-life bond on Bhai Phonta

Family dramas on television revolving around joint families usually celebrate all the festivals with much fervour. But this time the Bhai Phonta festivities were not confined to the small screen. Actors who play siblings in popular Bengali shows have developed a special bond off screen as well. To celebrate their relationship, they got together yesterday to pamper each other with mishti, gifts and more. Sweta Bhattacharya and Arya Mallick got together yesterday to pamper each other with mishti, gifts and more.

Arya: On the show, she protects me from all sorts of negativity and we share a deep bonding. That is how she is off screen too – always loving and protective. I don’t have a sister in real life, so I’ve been blessed with Sweta di, whom I treat like my own sister. Every year, my dida gives me phonta, but this year it was a double celebration as Sweta di gave me phonta too!

Sweta: I share a beautiful relationship with Arya. Being a single child, I always missed having my own brother and Arya has made that dream come true for me. Ask anybody on the sets and they will tell you how affectionate I am towards him. After the Bhai Phonta rituals, I gave him a gift that I hope he likes. I love Arya’s positive vibes and he tries to make me smile when I’m low.
