America and the rest of the world watched the swearing-in of Joseph R. Biden, Jr. as the 46th President of the United States of America on Wednesday. The event took place at Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. “Democracy has prevailed,” Biden said, in his inaugural speech. As world leaders, heads of state and activists congratulated him, people took to social media as well to wish the President-Elect. Several celebs also sent congratulatory messages via social media. Kerry Washington tweeted: “The people have spoken! Thank you to everyone who used your vote and your voice to make history. PRESIDENT Joe Biden and VICE PRESIDENT Kamala Harris”. Eva Longoria Baston took to her handle to share a series of five clapping emojis and singer Alicia Keys shared the words: “Not a crier but I lowkey shed a tear, we won’t let hate win! When we show up for each other we win! There’s SO much work to be done but I believe we are willing to show up for each other! Let’s keep being loud & strong. Now the real work begins! Big congrats to @KamalaHarris 😭
But Biden also got a follow request on Twitter. It was from model and actress Chrissy Teigen. She posted this tweet: “hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz” Her tweet was liked 353.6K times. And guess what? Chrissy’s wish was granted – the US President is now following her on Twitter, that too, on the official @POTUS account! She was thrilled and simply wrote “OH MY GOD,” adding several exclamations to it.
