Ranveer Singh, who will be stepping into the shoes of cricketer Kapil Dev in ‘83’, is leaving no stone unturned to get into the skin of his character. Talking about Ranveer’s preparations, director Kabir Khan revealed that the actor once asked Kapil Dev if he can simply be a fly on the wall during one of his meetings to observe him and this is what Kapil replied! Spilling some beans on the incident, Kabir recently told Neha Dhupia on her radio show that it was fabulous to be able to trail the cricketer everywhere. He revealed that once they landed at his house in Delhi. As Kapil Dev was busy in a meeting, the director said that Ranveer told the cricketer that he can continue with the meeting and think of them as the fly in the wall. Replying to this, Kapil told the actor that there can be no meeting when Ranveer Singh is sitting in his room.
The filmmaker was also all praise for Ranveer. He reportedly said that Ranveer as an actor has realised on this course of the journey that he loves the process of getting into a character. According to Kabir, the actor is not very happy if it’s a character he can’t do much about and he just has to get on to the set. So, for him, this was a challenge.
Elaborating further, he added that when Ranveer is in the project he doesn’t like looking left or right, he just is in that project, eating, breathing, sleeping that character. He added that everybody took on the mantle of the character they were representing, so, Ranveer truly became the captain of that team.
‘’83’ also stars Deepika Padukone in the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. The actress is also co-producing the film.
