Throwback Thursday: When Rishi Kapoor confessed that he regretted not making friends with son Ranbir Kapoor

Reports of Rishi Kapoor not sharing a cordial relationship with son Ranbir Kapoor have always made headlines. In fact, the late veteran actor also confessed to the media about the same in one of his interviews.

Talking about the time when Ranbir moved in with his then-girlfriend Katrina Kaif, Rishi told Mumbai Mirror in a throwback interview that he had given his son space. The actor added that Ranbir is a great son and he always listens to his father. However, Rishi revealed that he never interfered with Ranbir’s career.

Elaborating further, Rishi confessed to having messed up his relationship with his son even though his wife Neetu Kapoor kept telling him about what he was doing. The veteran actor also believed that it was too late to mend their relationship as according to him both of them would not be able to adjust to the change.

Rishi also went on to say that he never made friends with Ranbir and he regrets that. The senior actor also added that he was not one of those guys who would want to be on back-slapping terms with his son.

The father-son duo had come closer to each other after the former was recognised with cancer in 2018. Rishi passed away on April 30 this year at a hospital in Mumbai.

On the work front, Rishi was supposed to star with Deepika Padukone in the official Hindi remake of the Hollywood film ‘The Intern’. He also had ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ co-starring Juhi Chawla.
