Udaan must be one of the best Hindi films ever, it was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane in his directorial debut. It was produced by Sanjay Singh, Anurag Kashyap and Ronnie Screwvala under their production companies Anurag Kashyap Films and UTV Spotboy respectively and its written by Motwane and Kashyap’ The film starred newcomer Rajat Barmecha, Ronit Roy, Aayan Boradia, Ram Kapoor, Manjot Singh and Anand Tiwari.

Udaan is about chasing your dreams and living your life as fully as possible despite everything. Celebrates the power of the human spirit, showing us that we can fly very high and fulfill our most impossible dreams if we only believe in ourselves and summon up the courage to fight for our happiness, that all presented the character of Rohan’s struggle with his loneliness and desperation

The Film was released on 16 July 2010, it was the first Indian film represented at Cannes in seven years. The film was also screened at the Giffoni Film Festival and the 2011 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. It underperformed at the box-office of grossing ₹33.5 million from a production budget of ₹50 million

The film received seven awards: Best Screenplay and Best Story, Best Cinematography, Best Background Music, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound Design Award and the Best Film (Critics) Award.

The story is excellent.  It follows Rohan, who is forced to live with his oppressive father in Jamshedpur after he is expelled from boarding school, Rohan returns to the small industrial and finds himself closeted with an authoritarian father and a younger half-brother who he didn’t even know existed and Forced to work in his father’s steel factory and study engineering against his wishes, he strives to forge his own life. His only oasis is his uncle, who supports him to pursue his dream of being a writer.

Rajat Barmecha is wonderful. The youngster lives his character each moment. Ronit Roy is fantastic. His acting as a tough father really makes the heart bit slow and In 2019 Film Companion ranked Roy’s performance among 100 greatest performances of the decade list.Young Aayan Boradia is at his best and wonderful child. A dependable actor! Ram Kapoor as the polite & understanding uncle, is lovable

The soundtrack album had seven songs, And the album received positive responses from critics, each song of movie literally takes flight from a soft, seminal intro, building up to a crescendo of indie, alternative rock and the title song “one of the most soul-stirring tracks of the year.

Well in Conclusion, Udaan movie has covered all the issues related to teenagers and above all it touches the heart of the youth. Sometime you will feel that your life is mingling with the life of Rohan.
