Vadivelu to do a movie with Thirumurugan?

It has just been a few days since a video of Vadivelu, in which he gets emotional while talking about how he has had no film offers in the last decade and that he has been in a state of lockdown for 10 years now, has been doing the rounds on the internet. Even as the video is going viral, we have learnt that the ace comedian who has done over 200 films and even played the lead in a few of them, has been approached for a film with Thirumurugan of Em Magan fame. A source says, “Thirumurugan, who has directed several serials, including Panchavarnakkili, Metti Oli and the now-running Kalyana Veedu, debuted on the silver screen with Em Magan. The film, starring Bharath and Gopika, had Vadivelu in an integral role. He has been in talks with the ace comedian for the last one month for a film, in which he will be playing one of the leads. It’s a family entertainer, and Vadivelu’s character will be the backbone of the script. TG Thyagarajan is most likely to back the film, and things are expected to be firmed up in the next few weeks.”

Vadivelu was last seen in the 2017 release Mersal, though the number of films he has been doing every year had drastically reduced after 2011. In 2017, he started shooting for a sequel to Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikecei, but the film was stalled after differences cropped up between him and the film’s team, including director Shankar, who was producing the movie. Later, Vadivelu opted out of the film.
