After teaming up successfully for Kumki, Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon had come together for a rural entertainer under the direction of Muthaiah of Komban fame. The film has been titled Pechi and will be releasing in theatres in contrary to the production house’s plan of releasing it on OTT.
It’s reported that as Tamil Nadu government has allowed theaters to reopen from November 10 and run with 50 per cent capacity adhering to COVID-19 protocols, the makers have now decided to release it on December 25, as a theatre release.
After Pechi, Muthaiah will be working with Komban hero Karthi for a rural action film. The cast and crew of the new movie are, however, yet to be decided.
Vikram Prabhu was last seen in Vaanam Kottattum, which was produced by Mani Ratnam. He is also part of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, which will restart its shooting in this month after the lockdown.
Three films starring Lakshmi Menon are in different stages of production in Tamil. For the last couple of years, she didn’t have any releases in Tamil.
The actress who is a singer and dancer, too, recently had revealed that she is not single and is in a relationship. Though she did not reveal the name of the person with whom she is romantically involved with, she said that she considers marriage overrated. Of late, the actress has been coming out with open and bold answers and she courted controversy when she replied to a fan’s query on her participation in Bigg Bo ss Tamil show. She said that she doesn’t want to wash vessels and clean toilets used by others. When she received negative comments on her post, she said, it’s her right and her choice.
