Goutam Ghose is all set to shoot his next film, a short, on the backdrop of pandemic and the subsequent lockdown with Suman Mukhopadhyay and Gargee RoyChowdhury in the lead. The film will go on the floors in March. While a big chunk of the film will be shot on Ajodhya Hills, in Purulia, the rest of it will be shot in Kolkata.
“The pandemic has impacted me in various ways. The world around me seemed to have presented a dark comedy. I saw how people changed their behaviour. I travelled to villages and saw another world that is sans the awareness of the ongoing pandemic. All these will be captured in the film through the eyes of a couple played by Suman and Gargee,” the filmmaker said.
In the film, Suman, a poet and columnist, and Gargee, a teacher, play an urban educated couple who visits a village to take a break from the pressure of lockdown in the city. “The story of new normal is elaborated through their eyes. The story of seven-eight months is presented in just a new minutes,” Goutam told us.
While this is the first time the director has teamed up with Gargee, Suman has done a small appearance in Goutam’s Shunyo Onko. “I am really looking forward to working with Goutam Ghose. His name reminds me of iconic films, like Padma Nadir Majhi and Paar. I took a break during the pandemic and this will be my first project with Goutam da,” Gargee told us.
