Salman Khan starrer Dabangg (2010) became a massive hit leading to be a popular franchise. The first film also featured tracks that became chartbusters. One of the songs that caught attention was the romantic Tere Mast Mast Do Nain featuring Salman and Sonakshi Sinha. Interestingly, the song which was already shot, was reshot and the outcome was a look of Salman that became iconic.
Revealing the same, the song’s co-director Vinay Sapru (along with Radhika Rao) told BT, “When we saw the song, we thought it lacked the flavor of the character. What Radhik and I direct film tracks, we understand the story, the character and his features and we inculcate all of that into the song. Chulbul Pandey is someone who had his own swag and he isn’t someone who is romantic-romantic. So we weaved in a story where he sees Rajjo and the romance happens. We also asked Salman to wear black shirt and pant and added the heart wala goggles to the look. We didn’t know that this look would become so iconic!”
Vinay and Radhika who have been around in the industry for two decades are well known to direct music videos, along with film tracks. “What we do is, we don’t just add in fancy steps or crazy looks or striking angles to make the song standout. We do all that we do with a purpose. A song should feel like it is a part of the story and doesn’t stand out like an odd, out-of-the-blue element,” he signs out.
