Telugu film Uppena starring debutant Panja Vaisshnav Tej is doing well in the theatres. The movie has Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist and the remake rights of the movie has been bought by the actor. Last year itself there were rumouors that Jason Sanjay, Vijay’s son, would make his film debut in the Tamil remake of the love story, Uppena. After the movie’s successful run in theatres, the speculations are rife that Vijay will launch Jason with the movie. The Telugu love story, Uppena, is loosely based on the Nalgonda honour killing incident. It is reported that Vijay Sethupathi had discussed the script on the sets of Master with Vijay and he is mighty impressed with the storyline and considers that to be a suitable launch pad for Jason.
Uppena is directed by debutant Buchi Babu Sana and starred Chiranjeevi’s nephew, Panja Vaisshnav Tej. It is reported that the Tamil remake, too, would be helmed by Buchi Babu Sana. However, Thalapathy Vijay or his team has not revealed any details on Jason.
Earlier, Jason had danced along with Vijay for a song in the 2009 Tamil film ‘Vettaikaran’.
However, there were also reports that Jason, who is doing a course in filmmaking in Canada is interested in directing his dad and he has already readied a script with all the mass elements needed for a Vijay film.
It has to be recalled that Vijay Sethupathi played the antagonist in the movie Master and his role as Bhavani was well appreciated. Now, all the eyes are on the actor as fans are expecting an official announcement on him bagging the Tamil remake rights of Uppena and its star cast. It is reported that Vijay Sethupathi will play the antagonist in the Tamil remake, too. In the meantime, Vijay is busy with his Nelson Dhilipkuamar project, which will start shooting soon. Though the rest of the star cast is yet to be finalised, the technical crew has been selected for the movie, which is being bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
