Zoya Akhtar, Ibrahim Ali Khan and other celebs come out in support of Suhana Khan's 'end colourism' post

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter Suhana, who is quite active on social media, posted a powerful message about the need to end colourism. Soon after she shared a long note on her Instagram handle, she started receiving support from her college friends and celebs from the industry. Her post evoked some strong reactions from celebs like Zoya Akhtar, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and others.

An excerpt from her post read, “Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure. I’m sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking or even your own families have convinced you, that if you’re not 5″7 and fair you’re not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I’m 5″3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism”

Reacting to Suhana’s post, Zoya commented, “Thank you for sharing this. It’s only self hate that makes people want to demean others. In any case we can’t take criticism from people we wouldn’t go for advise. A racist only defines themselves so you be you beautiful one. You are unstoppable.” Ibrahim dropped high-five emojis while Shanaya wrote, “Queen”. Have a look:

Meanwhile, Suhana is currently at her home in Mumbai. She has been spending time with her family amid the lockdown. She is pursuing filmmaking at New York University.
